Thank you for taking the time to read my latest Headteacher update. This will be the last one of the year, so I want
to take this opportunity to thank you so much for your amazing support for what has been a very long, but also
highly rewarding and successful year.
I sincerely hope that you manage to have a restful, relaxing and positive summer and that you are able to take
stock of the many successes and achievements that your child has enjoyed over the course of this past year.
There are always challenges but despite these I believe that there is so much to be grateful for.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Year 8 for being an engaging and positive year group throughout their
time at the school. This week will see a variety of different activities and opportunities for them, and I sincerely
hope that the final week at St Egwin’s is a positive one. We have informed High Schools that they are very
fortunate to have such a strong group of pupils joining them in September.
Collective Worship
This week the focus has been on Corinthians 12:12-27 where we have been discussing how we can all contribute
together to support one another. Celebrating our God-given uniqueness gives us our identity but through love,
care and empathy then we achieve so many things for the benefit of our community. This has been a really
inspiring message especially when at the end of the academic year, and given the hot weather, this is a welcome
positive message.

House and attendance review
A wonderful last week for Christie who managed a clean sweep for the attendance and House Point awards. With
the final reveal next Friday it is going to be very interesting to see who has won the final awards.
Thank you for your support for attendance throughout the year. We have improved attendance for the whole
school and in particular we have achieved in the top 10% of schools in the country for attendance of pupils with
SEND.

Industrious thinking has seen Lily B and Maisy B set up a small business which can be found at

Well done to Leo C who was selected and proudly represented Worcestershire County at the prestigious Three
Counties Swimming Gala, competing against the best swimmers from Gloucestershire and Staffordshire. He
produced fantastic swims and was a key part of the final relays where Worcestershire claimed the Three Counties
Gala trophy for an amazing fourth consecutive year!
Final day of term reminder
A further reminder that the school will be closed from 1 p.m. on Friday. Buses will collect at this time.
Please also remember that uniform is relaxed this week, but we want pupils in full school uniform on the last day
for our final Collective Worship where Bishop Martin is visiting and also for our Valedictory awards.
New mobile phone arrangements for next year
Having reviewed the latest government guidance we are putting into place a slightly amended update for mobile
phones. Pupils will hand their phones into their tutor in the morning, but these will be secured in a locked box in
tutor rooms. Lessons will finish at 3:10 and pupils will return to their tutor rooms to collect their phones from
their tutor.

Public health nurse team
Following visits from the nursing team to our Year 6 pupils I have been asked to share the information below with
you and ask that you respond if you are able to as they are looking for feedback.
As you may be aware, our School Nurse teams have recently visited your school to deliver the National Child
Measurement Programme (NCMP). We are committed to continually improving the service we provide and would
greatly value feedback on your recent NCMP sessions. Your insights will help us review and enhance our
processes, ensuring we deliver the best possible experience for future Reception and Year 6 cohorts.
We would be grateful if you could share the survey links below with both school staff and parents, so that we can
gather a range of feedback on their experience of the programme.

Best Start family hubs
I have been asked by Action for Children if I could pass on another feedback opportunity for parents/carers in our
area. Please see the details below.
We are looking for opinions from parents, carers, and families living in the Evesham and Pershore area. We want
to find out what services are available now, what support might be lacking, and how Best Start Family Hubs could
better support local families.

England, Dame Rachel De Souza. I am aware that some pupils have responded but if more were able it would be

Lower Moor trip
Well done to Year 6 who were brilliant on the recent trips to Lower Moor. The pupils were undeterred by the
challenges of the hot weather and got stuck into the amazing range of activities. A special thank you to Miss
Steenson who has worked so hard to co-ordinate the trip and ensure that pupils had a great adventure at the
lowest possible price. The success of the trips was down to her detailed planning and we are incredibly grateful.
Summer Savings
The Department for Education has written to schools asking us to share information that might aid during the
summer holidays.
The information includes making you aware that from 25 June to 1 September 2026, the Government is
temporarily cutting VAT from 20% to 5% on children’s meals in restaurants, children and family tickets to
cinemas, theatres, concerts and exhibitions, and admission to a wide range of attractions. Combined with free
bus travel during August for children aged 5 to 15 in England, families and young people will be able to enjoy
experiences that make summer special, including visits to the kinds of cultural and educational attractions that
enrich children’s lives outside the classroom.

continues to address all school leavers. It can be used to celebrate with those children and young people from
First, Primary, Middle and Secondary schools. We hope that this will be a service to support you in celebrating

Goodbye and best wishes
It is always hard saying goodbye to pupils who are moving on but it is also very difficult saying goodbye to staff.
We wish Miss Meggitt every success as she moves from St Egwin’s to live in France. She has been an outstanding
teacher who trained at St Egwin’s and has consistently delivered superb lessons. The quality of food that pupils
have been making is testament to her superb direction and energy. Her energy and passion for Food and Nutrition
have inspired pupils and I know that pupils and staff will miss her greatly.
Miss Watton has been a superb Learning Support Assistant who has worked with dedication, professionalism
and empathy. She has always put the needs of pupils first in her decision making and has given brilliant support
to both pupils and staff. She has been a great team player, and we wish her every success as she starts her
University placement in the new academic year.
