Please accept my apologies for my weekly update being slightly late. It’s probably a fair reflection of how busy things are, but we wouldn’t want it any other way I’m sure! Whilst we are fast approaching the end of another successful term, there is absolutely no let up with the commitment to ensure that we provide the best that we can for pupils and members of the school community.
Collective Worship
The themes explored were centred around trust and forgiveness as Mr Plane led Collective Worship that was focused on Luke 19: 1-10. This is the story of Zacchaeus the tax collector who changes his life for the better. It is a timely reminder that we can all improve and that making mistakes is human. It ties in very much with our school vision which is centred around compassion and empathy.
Prayer of the week

House and attendance updates
Another week and another huge haul of House Points achieved! Congratulations to Curie who just nudged out Attenborough by a tiny margin of 7 House Points! Once again we had comfortably over 3000 House Points for the week so it is great to see such strong commitment throughout the Houses.
Attendance continues to be strong and whilst congratulations go to Christie for winning the highest attendance for the week and term, it should be recognised that all Houses are contributing well.
On the subject of attendance I was delighted to be contacted by the Deputy Director of Education for Worcestershire congratulating us on our attendance work and asking us to share our successful strategies which she will be passing on to the Department for Education. There are obviously lots of factors behind the success that we enjoy but the keys are the commitment of the staff and the strong partnerships we receive from the school community.
Pupil achievements
Well done to Georgia P, representing Christie, who was our overall House Point winner for the week.
Congratulations also to Alex P (Attenborough), Luca V (Curie), Esme S (Farah) and Luca L (Turing).
Well done to Esme S who received achieved her 425 House Point badge! Great achievements from Theo H, Jessica L, Iryna S, Luca L, Ellie M and Ben B who all achieved their 350 House Point badges. Great work all.
Excellent contributions from Kilian T saw him crowned Oracy Champion for the week.
Great work in Food lessons saw Rowan KG, Kipras P and Damian P named as our Chefs of the week.
Parent/carer evening
Thank you so much for your support at what was a fantastic parent/carer informaiton evening last week. Don’t forget that there is the virtual evening coming up for those who prefer an online meeting. This is taking place Wednesday 15th April. There are still appointments left to sign up through School Cloud so do please take the opportunity to do so.
Evesham Police road safety
Many thanks to those who have asked where the selection of winners will be advertised. I have been informed that the photograph and article will be appearing this week on the Evesham Police Facebook page so fingers crossed.
Harvington Summer Fayre
Harvington Summer Fayre will be taking place on Saturday 6th June, 11- 3. If there are any budding performers or volunteers who are willing and able to support this wonderful event then do please email [email protected]. I am sure any and all support would be enormously appreciated.
David Attenborough Challenge
Our challenge has now been launched. All examples of support should be recorded and put in the folder on the door in 5a. House Points and prizes are available. As a reminder the challenge ends on the 7th May, the day before David Attenborough turns 100!
Bus behaviour
I am aware that behaviour on public transport is a vulnerable area for schools given it is not an area that we are able to police or support. Fortunately behaviour is generally good but from time to time we do receive concerns or complaints about anti social behaviour on public buses, so as always we greatly appreciate your support in making sure that all members of the school community show respect at all times.
We Will Rock You
If you have yet to get your ticket for the shows this week, please do come along and support what will be a wonderful show I am absolutely sure. Staff and pupils have been working incredibly hard to put the production together so if you are able to come along either Wednesday or Thursday, we’d absolutely love to see you there. Many thanks to those who have submitted raffle prizes for the shows. Your generosity means a great deal.
Non uniform Friday
Connected to the show we have a non uniform day on Friday. This is absolutely optional and has a suggested maximum donation of £2 which can be paid via Parent Pay. Please don’t forget that if your child has PE then clothing worn must be appropriate.
Easter termly newsletter
Many thanks as always to Mr Farr who does such an amazing job with the termly newsletter. This will be out shortly so I do hope that you take the time to read it in detail.
Careers success
On account of the outstanding careers education provided at St Egwin’s, we have been invited to give feedback about careers education to Baroness Morgan, Chair of the Careers and Enterprise Company. This is an honour for the school and is fully deserved given our sustained history of achieving top marks against The Gatsby Standards, which measure the quality of careers education. I am especially grateful to Mr Wood and Mrs Croft who lead this important area of school life with such energy and commitment.
Evesham Rotary Club
The school have received an incredibly generous donation to help fund our 50 year celebrations. It is incredibly kind of them to do this and we are so grateful for their wonderful support.
Planned absence
Unfortunately I will be having knee surgery on April 16th. I will obviously follow medical advice but intend to be back in school for as soon as possible. It is likely at this point that I will be absent from school but working from home from the 16th to the 24th. The school has fantastic staff and leaders who will thrive without me I am sure! I have every confidence in them and know that the school will be in incredibly safe hands.
