Welcome to another Headteacher update. Thank you for taking the time to read about the latest events and successes of the school. Whilst this is only a snapshot of the amazing things that are happening, it hopefully gives a flavour of the collective successes of St Egwin’s.
Collective Worship
This week we have been looking at the parable of the lost sheep which is based around the importance and value that we all have. With so much focus quite rightly on mental health it is an important reminder of the need to value others but also ourselves. Pupils have been discussing the difference between cost and value and have generated a lot of really interesting thoughts and ideas that have been shared.
Prayer of the week

House and attendance updates
It was fantastic that we had almost 40000 House Points awarded this week which Mr Plane reminds me is the second highest total that we have had. The House in 5th had 710 House Points so that shows how high the bar has been this week! Well done to Farah who were crowned our worthy winners, beating their nearest rivals by 60 House Points.
Well done to Christie who had over 96% attendance last week, but also to all Houses who have continued to do well with attendance. A special mention to Farah who made significant progress with their attendance from the previous week.
Individual successes
Well done to Theo H, representing Christie who was our overall House Point winner for the week! Winners by House were:

Brilliant work from Katelyn T saw her win Artist of the week. Her amazing picture is attached.
Oracy Champion of the week went to Cady R for her brilliant contributions.
Our superb Chefs of the week were Kaia G (Year 6), Finley B (Year 7) and Khaleesi W (Year 8).
It has been a really successful time for Khaleesi who recently competed at the ITF England National Championships in Coventry this weekend. She came away with Gold in sparring and Bronze in special technique! She is an amazing role model and we are so proud of her success.
Progress checks
Huge thanks to Mr Plane for sorting out the completion and distribution of the March progress checks which I hope you will find really useful in your ongoing support for our partnership for your child(ren). Don’t forget that the next round of parent/carer consultation evenings will soon be upon us.
Cancer Research Fundraising
Mr Wood is doing the 10 Days of 5k Challenge to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. World Book Day
It was absolutely wonderful to hear pupils and staff talking about inspirational books and how reading brings so much joy. I certainly learned of many books that I somehow need to find the time to read!
I have made my feelings known about why I dislike what I consider to be a misplaced principle of dressing up and instead felt that the rich dialogue and discussion around reading was really worthwhile and incredibly positive for all. Thank you so much to all pupils and staff for their brilliant engagement with this.
Lost property
The pile of lost property is growing so if you are missing something, please do ask your child(ren) to check. The amount of unclaimed property is huge so if the back of the sofa doesn’t bring you results in your quest for lost items, then do try lost property!
Website improvements
I do hope that you find the time to look at our excellent website. Mr Farr has recently updated the home page so as always if you do have any feedback then we’d be delighted to hear it.
National Careers Week
This week at St Egwin’s our focus in all PSHCE lessons has been to explore the kind of careers pupils wish to learn more about. Every pupil present has had an opportunity to think about and share what kind of speaker they would like us to invite to our Careers Fayre on the 25th June 2026. Please could you take the time to complete these forms with your child regarding who you together think we should or could (if you include contact details) invite to our day. https://forms.office.com/e/1CXMFNGfGu
We were very excited to hear how many pupils looked to you as people they wanted to attend the day, and share your knowledge and expertise with their peers. We are still looking for people willing to come in to create a successful day in June. Please take this opportunity to talk to your families about jobs and careers in whatever context is right for your home.
