Welcome to my latest update which as always aims to give you a valuable insight into the many and varied events and happenings in the life of St Egwin’s.
Collective Worship
I was very honest when I spoke in Collective Worship earlier this week that I struggle sometimes with the theme that we have been exploring, namely that of not allowing frustration or anger to affect our thought processes. We have been considering the parable of The Lost Son which is a beautiful story of forgiveness and compassion.
The way in which pupils have been discussing the waste of energy being angry and showing understanding for others has been really warming to hear. The world certainly needs more empathy, forgiveness and understanding right now…
Prayer of the week
The prayer for the week next week was written by Rachael K:
Dear God
Help open our eyes to the pain of my brothers and sisters who have been wounded by the poison of racism.
Give me and all others the courage to stand up for what is right and good and true in the face of injustice.
Free us from sin and sorrow and help us to set free and savour the beauty of Christ and his gospel.
Amen
House and attendance updates
A fantastic week for Curie who not only came top of the House Point list, but also attendance for the week. With almost 4000 House Points awarded we reached our third highest ever total so the target of 4100 to set a new record is definitely up for grabs! I know it’s definitely possible given the quality of our pupils.
I was really pleased to see a great week with attendance. This week the lowest attending House was 3% higher than the lowest last week for example. Curie managed almost 96% attendance which was fantastic and meant that they were the deserving winners.
Well done to the following pupils who earned a non uniform pass for having the highest attendance in their House:

Pupil achievements
Well done to Noemi for being our superb Artist of the week. I have attached a copy of her brilliant work for you to see.
Harry S was our brilliant Oracy Champion of the week.
Wonderful commitment from Amelia L in Year 6 who saw her competing at a Dance Championship, where she not only reached two finals but brought home two huge trophies too! Brilliant work.
Cross country success
Well done to Georgia P, Arlo T, Bobby C and Kayne W who represented the school brilliantly at the county cross championships in what proved to be a gruelling course. Thank you to Mr Taylor for taking the pupils and for supporting them.
Mobile phone road safety competition winners
I am delighted that I received formal thanks from Evesham Police for our amazing entries for the road safety competition. They will be coming in next week to have a photo opportunity with our winners. Well done to those who were chosen and well done to all those who entered.
Field open in the summer term
The field will be open at lunchtime next term for all pupils. We will be sending out a communication to all pupils clarifying expectations for how things will work.
David Attenborough celebration
On May 8th David Attenborough will celebrate his 100th birthday. As an absolutely amazing figure we are proud to name one of our five Houses after him. To mark this amazing event Miss Cox will be promoting a special event asking pupils and staff to sign up to do 100 positive things for nature by the time of his birthday. It would be great to see as many people involved as possible with this challenge.
