Welcome to my latest update which unless my eyes deceive me comes at a time when the skies seem brighter and the evenings having more sunlight! I think most of us prefer it when there are longer hours of sunlight and I am certainly no different. Whilst easter is still some way off, it does feel that with the changing weather (flooding always seems to stay the same…!) that there is a hope for renewed optimism.
I know that I have previously referred to this before, but once again we are facing extremely difficult challenges due to staff capacity which has been greatly affected recently, so I am especially grateful for your understanding, patience and support. We will continue to do all that we can and the truth is despite the stretch, colleagues are working exceptionally hard to provide a level of support that would be supplied when we are at full staff capacity. Staff at St Egwin’s live out our vision and I am indebted to them and proud of their efforts.
Collective Worship
This week Collective Worship was led by Mr Plane who delivered an inspiring message of facing up to challenges and overcoming them. Clearly this is not easy and something that understandably we often struggle with. The story of Jesus calming the waters was a great way to represent the difficulties that doubtless we will encounter.
I have been impressed with the many and varied examples pupils have been able to provide of success through perseverance. Despite being employed for three decades in education I am still greatly moved and inspired by stories and reflections of pupils. This has absolutely been the case this week with so many inspiring pupil thoughts and commentaries.
Prayer for the week
The prayer for next week was written by Daisy FH, which I am sure you will join me in being humbled by.
Dear Lord
Let peace come to earth and to all human beings and animals
That war and pain be banished from our world and that killing should stop
The world should not be affected by pollution

House and attendance update
In an incredibly tight finish Christie pipped Curie by 11 House Points to take the prize of the top House for the week. Christie also continue to dominate in the attendance charts too, so well done.

Just another reminder that our Communications Policy lists who to contact if you have any questions. Do please use email or telephone call rather than Edulink wherever possible to contact a member of staff.
Sickness and diarrhea
Please ensure that if your child has experienced sickness or diarrhea that they are absent from school for at least 48 hours after their last episode. We always want pupils to be in school as much as possible but it is essential that NHS England guidance is observed. Thank you for your co-operation with this.
Police road safety competition
Thank you for the many entries that have been received. The quality is outstanding! A representative from the local police is coming in next week to judge the entries and they are going to have a very difficult task!
Careers Fayre 2026
As part of our Careers Education Curriculum, we are holding a Careers Fayre this summer on Thursday 25th June 2026. During this, volunteer presenters from a variety of employment sectors and areas come in to speak to small groups of children (accompanied by a member of staff) about the work they do, how they got there, for a 40 minute session. This could be repeated to other groups a number of times.
If you would like to volunteer for this, or know somebody who would be able to support us in this way, please could the potential volunteer complete the linked form to show interest.
