St Egwin's Careers Strategy is lead by Mr Wood (SLT) and Mrs Croft (Head of PSHCE). 

The Careers strategy is a coordinated approach combining many aspects of school life to ensure all pupils gain a variety of experiences. We are weaving a tapestry of opportunities for the pupils to participate in through their school journey at St Egwin's. The foundations at St Egwin's ​have the intention of broadening and heightening the pupils awareness of the numerous opportunities open to them.  We seek to ensure that Gatsby Benchmarks are embedded into all curricula areas; in some subject lessons,  school trips, visit and visitors, with an overarching approach through PSHCE lessons. Character building and resilience development add to the many strands in our role of developing young adults ready for life after school. 

The eight Gatsby Benchmarks are: 

  1. A stable Careers program.
  2. Learning from career and labour market information. 
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil.
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers.
  5. Encounters with employers and employees. 
  6. Experiences of workplaces.
  7. Encounters with further and higher education.
  8. Personal guidance.
